Lady Magma is a celebration of female strength, creeping out of a 1970’s burnt orange aesthetic. The dancers throb, this is the birth of a cult before our eyes. This dance is a ritual, dedicated to desire, to sexual energy, to love.
In 2018, Oona Doherty- my friend and colleague asked me to be part of ‘Lady Magma’. Myself and 4 other dancers- Tilly Webber, Aoife McAtamney, Justine Cooper and Louise Tanoto came together in Belfast to begin the ritualistic process of developing the piece. Since then it has been performed in Paris, Geneva, Aix-en-Provence and Belfast. It is not a ‘dance’ performance and has never felt like that. It is weaved into my life in a way that I have become so grateful for, an invitation into the chaos and deep burn of the moment.
